Special Workshop Program

VAL VALI (SWORD)
WORKSHOP

A beginner-friendly Kalarippayattu workshop combining traditional movement, full-body conditioning, and weapon training.

About the Weapon Art

WHAT IS VALVALI?

SWINGING EXERCISES WITH THE SWORD AND SHIELD

The series of exercises in Valvali help one to master the techniques employed in wielding the sword and shield. They are practised by an individual in mock attacks aimed at imaginary opponents.

Join our intensive Kalarippayattu workshop in Bangalore to master the authentic discipline of traditional weapon combat, footwork, and fluid body coordination.

The Weapons

The sword used is about three feet long from the hilt to the tip. The shield, made of copper, steel, or zinc, is about one-and-a-half feet in diameter.

Two Distinct Styles

Style 1 (Agile Grace): Wielding the sword very close to the body with agile grace, demonstrating absolute mastery of the weapon.
Style 2 (Forceful Attacks): Executing forceful cuts and thrusts with the sword as if attacking an actual opponent.
